If you're in the market for the retroid pocket 2 Plus beware that there are rumors of production seizing for this particular model, we do have some last remaining models in stock if you have been looking for these particular versions of the Retroid Pocket 2+ and these are some of the best designs Retroid came up with, it is one of our favorite devices.
Retroid Pocket 2+: it is one of the best products we've had the pleasure of working with and has excellent performance within its price range, there aren't many handhelds that can match this console in this price range, the Retro pocket 2+ plus which is a much more powerful unit compared to its predecessor, the original RP2, most notably the Nintendo 64, PlayStation 1, Dreamcast, and newer systems that will perform better on the new version of retro pocket 2 plus when using dedicated emulators.
These devices will come fully configured with the necessary emulators already configured which will allow you to jump into the gaming action without spending countless hours setting up your game files, scanning individual folders, programming the emulators, downloading the artwork, mapping the controls, and much more.
The PSP, DC, N64, PS1 standalone emulators and RetroArch have already been set up for you which will save countless hours of initial setup, we've completed the following:
**Latest OTA update applied
**Installed APK files
**Organizing the library and scanning each individual folder
**Proper formatting and organizing of the SD card
**Fixing interface settings in RA
**Downloading each core for retroarch and updating them
**Setting up artwork download **controller mapping
**Setting quick commands.
Please note that having basic knowledge and learning about the associated Android emulators is important and will result in better performance when used properly, if you're looking for a more streamlined operating system then look for a different system we may have such as the rg552 or the rg503 which utilize Linux and are more streamlined, all in one place emulation and yield similar emulation results as the RP2+.
The 256GB version offers a wider selection of newer systems like Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 and PS1
The touch screen is an additional feature which has been added to the new system, browsing through the Android operating system is much easier and more fluid with the touchscreen capability, and getting into and out of games is a breeze and quite a positive experience, gaming on Android was something odd but with the touchscreen and controller input it has improved drastically, for further information please refer to our excellent customer feedback on this item.
Additional changes to the new system are also much welcomed new buttons which are slightly more raised and have a more tactile feel to them as well as more travel to the buttons, overall the quality of the controller has improved. Additionally, the Retro pocket 2+ plus now has a "Retroid launcher" which is a streamlined interface that groups multiple systems into one application, you can set this up if you wish but we've noticed some problems at the moment, this is very new software, in this point in time, however, we still prefer the standalone emulators and RetroArch for all-in-one emulation application for most emulation needs and it has already been setup for you with proper settings, scans and box art.
We also setup the dedicated emulators on this handheld which now has some of the best N64, DC, PSP and PS1 emulation, after running various tests we noticed that it performs very well at roughly 10-25% faster than retroarch depending on the game, using the dedicated emulators are the way to go for newer systems, overall supporting over 15-22k titles ranging from 8bit-64bit systems, this unit should keep you entertained for years to come.
There have been additional reports that this system can also support some GameCube emulation as well but we are currently in the process of testing various systems and do not have official results on GC performance. Dolphin emulator is available to test out if you wish, hopefully, it improves with updates.
