Custom configured OS Anbernic RG505 8 core 4GB RAM, 128GB built-in memory, 5" OLED display with optional 256GB or 512GB expansion SD card which are fully configured, saving you countless hours searching for files and setting up individual emulators. Included with this unit is the additional complimentary carry case, it is an excellent protective case that will protect your investment while traveling, the case has support straps and plenty of space for your USB C cables as well.

The new Anbernic RG505 is one of the latest and most powerful Android-based devices that can support up to GameCube and PS2 emulation, these devices come in three beautiful colors, turquoise, green, and gray.

Overall we are delighted with the results upon testing this system which can play older systems without problems(N64, PS1, DC) as well as the majority of GameCube with good frame rates, you may have to resort to tweaking the settings within the dolphin emulator for certain games in order to achieve maximum performance but other than that emulation is pleasant and playable overall. PS2 also performs very similarly with most games being playable using aethersx2 emulator. Based on the cost-to-performance dollar ratio we would rank this unit very highly due to its abilities and price range for the performance that it delivers, it is on par with more expensive handheld consoles within its class and specs.

Hardware: one of the best features of this device is the OLED display which is similar to the PS Vita but it has twice the resolution as the Vita, the 5-in display is very bright and colorful with good contrast and all retro looks very good on this display. The D-pad and buttons are also very responsive and slightly more raised than the RP3 Plus, which is another much-welcomed upgrade. Also, the joysticks use Hall sensors which are ideal for stick drift prevention, this technology uses magnetic components instead of the traditional mechanical internal components that can often wear out and cause stick drift which is notorious with a lot of handhelds. Using the device for prolonged periods is also pleasant and the rubber grips on the back side of the unit allow for better grip and holding on to the console, additionally, the dual speakers under the console are also very loud and clear with very good sound quality. One noticeable feature that has also been added to this hardware is the quick launch button for the built-in launcher that Anbernic has added, the launcher is basically a quick way to launch your games using retroarch in the background to emulate.

Google Play store is also built in which will enable you to download apps and other Android APK data, previously Anbernic did not include Google Play and required a tedious process to install it, you no longer have to do this.

Software: Android 12 is very well polished on this unit and the touch screen allows for easy browsing through apps and menus. The OTA updates are also built into the system, we've already had two updates while testing this unit which indicates that Anbernic is putting a lot of effort to make this device function better as time goes on. The built-in emulators are also up to date and have been set up as mentioned above which will save you a lot of time doing so on your own.

Similar to our Retroid pocket 3 systems, we have configured these emulators and scanned files within retroarch, PPSSPP, N64, duckstation, and aethersx2 as d dolphin which will save you many hours of configuring and setting them up. You may have to adjust settings for certain titles within Dolphin and aethersx2 to get the best performance possible, oftentimes changing resolution, applying frame skip, etc will yield better results.
